2016 Dennis & Susan Excellent Road Trip Begins Sunday!

Every Summer Dennis & I take to the road beginning in the Spring and ending in late Fall.  We vend at about 18 Irish Festivals all over the East and Mid West.  During that time we have a bit of time off and we travel to amazing beautiful places.  Last year it was the UP of Michigan.  I highly recommend the Ford Museum if you ever get a chance to travel to MI.  We also get out a few times with four of the grandchildren. We have never stayed in a motel.  We instead camp, Glamp might be a better word in our 2006 19' Airstream Bambi, or as I like to call it, our cottage on wheels.  There is nothing better at the end of the day to come home to your own place.  We have everything we need, bathroom, kitchen, bedroom and more, just all on a tiny scale. I even named it EireStream!

This trip is to Lexington KY, we are going for a few reasons.  The first is to visit good friend and owner of the finest Irish Shop in KY, Liza Hendley Betz, owner of FAILTE in downtown Lexington.   Next we will be camping at the KY Horse Park, home to the breeding, birth and training of all the City Mounted Police Horses.

43 years ago I met Dennis, on our first date, we watched the 99th running of the Kentucky Derby and went out to dinner. One year to the day later on the 100th running of the Derby we were married.  I have always wanted to go to KY and see the horse farms and Churchill Downs. This is our year, we will be there on Monday, a few days after the Derby, but still in the land of the Bluegrass. By the way today is our Anniversary, 42 Years!

Last, we are traveling to Berea, KY.  A small college town devoted to the arts and crafts of all types.  I am a quilter and I am presently hand appliqueing a Celtic Design quilt, so I am very excited to go to this town and enjoy all the hand made crafts. We will travel the Bourbon Trail and sample my favorite, a few Bourbon Balls.

The next issue of the Faith & Begorra Newsletter will include a list of our Festivals for the Summer. Be sure to sign up for the Newsletter.   We hope to see old and new friends along our Summer travels.  See you down the road.....
